Service Description

Sport climbing is more accessible than traditional rock climbing, both in terms of location and in cost of outfitting. Its fun and often-competitive atmosphere, combined with the immediate gratification of completing many difficult routes in a single outing, draws newcomers to the sport and is a natural progression for gym climbers who want to take their skills to the outdoors. Sport climbing involves high-intensity climbing on relatively short routes. It's distinguishing characteristics include pre-placed bolts and an emphasis on the physical aspect of the climb rather than the destination or summit. Sport routes can be found indoors on artificial walls at a gym or a competition arena, or outside on nearby, easily accessible rock crags. Climbers can enjoy being on the "sharp end" of the rope—that is, leading the climb—without knowing how to place chocks or camming devices as would happen in traditional climbing. We will provide all the technical equipment such as helmets, harnesses, ropes, belay devices and quick draws. Just bring your climbing shoes, some snacks (you will definitely have earned them during these sessions) and drinks. We recommend a minimum of 2 litres of water and some form electrolyte/rehydration drink. We limit the number of people on this to keep everyone safe and so each person can gain the most from our instructor and coach.
